Stuck in the snow -
Wednesday, February 2nd, 2011Hey -
Its me -
I lived in Minnesota for about 1/2 of my life, never to get stuck in the snow. I’ve been in Chicago for 10+ years, and the first time we have a real snowstorm, guess whose 4×4 jeep gets stuck on the back roads? hum?
So my friend and I were in a hurry to get home to pick up Pizza before the big storm. The main street was blocked with a downed power line, so me, in my ultimate wisdom, decided that I should take a ’short cut’. Which lead to getting stuck in a snow drift for 3 hours. and walking over a mile to my home.
I called 911 3 times - they said ‘ call a tow truck’ the first time I called. The 2nd time they said ‘ want a number for a tow truck?’ - and lastly we got the state patrol, and they said ‘we’ll send the national guard’ - after an hour we walked it - in a blizzard.
So - all the tow places in town are closed. (due to the weather) they finally plowed the street. so I dialed and dialed, to find a tow company - they came, picked me up, and low and behold he said that they can’t try to tow it - too much snow around it pushed by the snow plow.
I think the tow driver was either homophobic, or lazy, and didn’t want to work anymore tonight - SO - calling another place tomorrow.
The thing that really bothers me is I don’t have a car. Its so frustrating, and I feel vulnerable, I guess. I really like having the freedom to do what I want when I need to - This was also my 2nd new car, and I really hold that as an accomplishment (yes, I am nuts). And I always worry that someone is going to hit it, break into it, or it wont start -
So hopefully tomorrow I’ll have it - good thing I don’t have anywhere to be tomorrow -
Stay tuned for more.
